Licence requirements
50cc scooters can usually be ridden with a standard car or moped licence (permit B or AM). 125cc scooters often require an A1 motorcycle licence; some holders of long-standing car licences may convert to 125cc — check your own licence.
Performance and comfort
50cc scooters are light and practical for Barcelona traffic and narrow streets. 125cc scooters offer more power and comfort, especially for hills, longer journeys or riding with a passenger.
Best routes for 50cc
With a 50cc scooter you can explore the Gothic Quarter, Barceloneta and Montjuïc. The speed is enough for urban traffic and parking is usually easy.
Best routes for 125cc
A 125cc scooter is better for longer routes, hills and riding two-up. It is a better choice if you plan to go beyond the central beach and city areas.
